The moment Kyuhyun arrived at the dorm with Sungmin, before he had even made it completely through the door, Shindong and Donghae were on him. They were hugging him and welcoming him back as if they hadn’t seen him in months.

“Be careful he tends to fall,” Sungmin warned from behind them.

“I haven’t fallen today, and I didn’t actually fall yesterday.”

“Heechul tells another story,” Sungmin told him, shutting and locking the door behind them.

“Don’t worry if you start to fall, we will catch you,” Donghae told him, and went in for another hug.

“Are you two the only ones here?” Kyuhyun asked as he looked around the dorm. He found himself only half-heartedly hugging Donghae back when he noticed an important absence.

“Yeah, everybody else is off working. It’s just us two slackers here. We thought we would come down and welcome you home,” Donghae told Kyuhyun, letting him go, but staying close by, as Kyuhyun walked farther into the room.

“Your mom and dad dropped off all your stuff. They also left a delicious meal, and there’s some left,” Shindong told them.

“There’s some left? How sweet of you two,” Sungmin growled as he heading for the kitchen to see exactly how big some was.

“Hey, Donghae is a pig, what can I say?” Shindong yelled to Sungmin as he headed for the kitchen.

“Me? I hardly ate anything at all. I did eat my part, though, and it was excellent. The next time I see your mother, I am going to tell her, too.”

“I am sure dad made it,” Kyuhyun said, slowly sitting down on the sofa.

“Your dad cooks?” Shindong asked, taking a seat next to Kyu.

“Yes, he cooks every Thursday. He always has. They made some kinda deal before they got married, and dad has to cook on Thursdays.”

“That’s kinda cool. Why can’t you cook then?” Donghae asked as he took the other seat next to Kyuhyun on the sofa.

“I just never wanted to. If you cook around here, you are stuck doing it all the time, so it’s best just not to.”

“Very true,” Shindong said, nodding his head in an agreement. “I’m glad Sungmin and Ryeowook never figured that out.”

“Me too,” Donghae added as he gave a look toward the kitchen to make sure Sungmin didn’t overhear them.

“We offered to go get you, but Sungmin kinda insisted. He totally pulled the roommate card on us,” Shindong explained to Kyuhyun.

“My mom wouldn’t let me ride with you anyways.”

“Because you lied to her and told her I drove like a crazy person that time.”

“Shindong, I wasn’t lying; you were on the wrong side of the road.”

“There wasn’t anybody coming.”

“Because they all pulled over when they saw some idiot driving on the wrong side of the road,” Sungmin added as he arrived with two plates of food. He handed one to Kyuhyun, and he took the other one and sat down in the recliner by the sofa.

“It wasn’t that bad,” Shindong said shrugging. “Is there any food left?”

“Not for you!” Sungmin said, holding up a fork and pointing it at Shindong.

“Well, be stingy then. Once Ryeowook gets home, he will cook something wonderful, and we aren’t sharing it with you bottom dwellers.”

“Yeah,” Donghae said agreeing with Shindong, “we get all the best food now.”

“He told me how you stole all the food the fans sent him,” Sungmin said, accusing them, but his eyes were on Kyuhyun, who had suddenly stopped eating his dinner.

“Stole? That is so wrong! He told all of us that we could have as much as we wanted,” Donghae said, defending them.

“Like he didn’t let you go through it first, and take what you wanted,” Shindong told Sungmin with knowing eyes. Shindong then turned to Kyuhyun. “He probably stockpiled some for you, too, come to think of it.”

“We should go up and look. Kyuhyun looks like he needs some candy or something fattening. He’s too thin,” Donghae said, jumping off the sofa.

“I bet I can find it. If there is some more of that white candy I am getting me some,” Shindong said as he hopped off the sofa and followed Donghae upstairs.

“You have to go up to Ryeowook’s room now? Since when has Ryeowook had a room on the second level?” Kyuhyun questioned, putting his plate of food on the table in front of the sofa.

Sungmin, who had been shooting daggers at the back of Shindong and Donghae’s heads, turned his focus to Kyuhyun. “Since there was an empty room up there, and Yesung wanted his own room. It worked out well for everyone.”

“Actually, it doesn’t.”

“Yes, it does.”

“Then why did you not get your own room? You are older than Ryeowook, so shouldn’t the next single room be yours?”

“Am I so horrible a roommate that you’re trying to get rid of me?”

Kyuhyun shook his head. “You could be up there on the top floor where they don’t mind cats. You could have kept your cats. Ryeowook should be with me, since we are the youngest.”

“Kyuhyun, we always get along. We never fight; it’s just easier keeping us together.”

“How long has he been on the second floor?”

“A couple of weeks now…not long after your surgery. It was Yesung’s idea.”

“Oh, I don’t believe that for a minute. You and Ryeowook are the masters at manipulating Yesung until he thinks something is his idea. The sole purpose of this move was so he could get away from me.”

“The fight that was about nothing wasn’t about nothing…he never told me what it was about. I just know it had to be really bad if you hit him, and he wouldn’t go see you in the hospital,” Sungmin said, moving out of the recliner and coming to sit next to Kyuhyun.

Kyuhyun, who had unconsciously started biting his thumbnail, jerked it out of his mouth and took a deep breath. “Everything is fine now. It was just a misunderstanding. I just don’t think it’s fair that you had to give up your cats and are still stuck with me.”

“I think the problem you have is that you are still stuck with me. Don’t think that I don’t know you - ” Sungmin stopped as he heard the door being opened.

Yesung and Ryeowook both entered the dorm. After removing their shoes, they headed toward their two other members. “Well, look who finally returned. I can’t wait till you start carrying your weight again at the studio,” Yesung said as he approached them, but he was paying more attention to the plate of food in front of Kyuhyun then to Kyuhyun.

Ryeowook, who was standing beside Yesung, kicked him. Yesung quickly then added, “It’s good to see you. Glad you are feeling better. Hey, are you going to eat that?”

“No.” Kyuhyun told Yesung, but his eyes were on Ryeowook and full of accusations.

“Good, because I am starved,” Yesung said as he took the plate, sat down in the recliner and started to eat.

Ryeowook, who wasn’t oblivious to the eyes on him, sat down beside Kyuhyun and patted his knee. “Is it good to be home?”

“Oh, it’s wonderful.”

“How’s your balance today?”

“It’s fine.”

“Well it better be, because your comeback is planned for tomorrow,” Yesung told him as he tore into a piece of chicken.

“I’ll be fine,” Kyuhyun told them, looking away from Ryeowook to stare at Yesung demolishing his food.

“They are just going to have you do the very minimal - no sliding or anything like that,” Sungmin offered, patting his other knee. Kyuhyun suddenly felt like a child sitting between his two mothers as they placated him. He not so subtly removed Sungmin’s hand from his knee.

“You should have always done the sliding; you do it the best,” Kyuhyun told Sungmin.

“Yes, but he shouldn’t do the singing.” Yesung told them, with his mouth full of food. He was completely oblivious to the three disapproving stares aimed at him.

“It’s a very difficult part, and Sungmin, you’ve done it great,” Ryeowook told Sungmin. His hand stayed on Kyuhyun’s knee, providing a calming effect…although he wasn’t completely sure why Kyuhyun needed calming. He had a pretty good idea, though.

Yesung looked up and asked, “Who made this? It’s fabulous.” He stopped when he noticed that they didn’t look happy with him. “As much as I hate to admit it, that is hardest part of the song to sing. It was made for Kyuhyun to sing. No offense,” Yesung added with a sweet smile aimed at Sungmin.

“No offense taken. Kyuhyun’s dad made it,” Sungmin answered, just shaking his head at Yesung.

“Is that Fish Surprise?” Ryeowook asked.

“Yes,” Kyuhyun said, leaning back into the sofa and relaxing. He hated the soothing effect Ryeowook’s touch had on him.

Yesung looked up in surprise. “But I thought it was chicken?”

“That’s the surprise,” Kyuhyun answered.

“There is actually some left, and I hid it for you. Ryeowook, if you come with me, I will show you where it is,” Sungmin said, standing up.

“Okay,” Ryeowook said, letting go of Kyuhyun, as he got up from the sofa and followed Sungmin into the kitchen.

“Sungmin is going to tattle on you now,” Yesung said as he put his plate down and picked up Sungmin’s and started eating what was left on it.

“Tattle on me?”

“You were pouting when we walked in.”

“I wasn’t pouting. I was a little bit surprised…I wasn’t pouting.”

“Why were you pouting?” Donghae said as he walked back into the dorm and plopped down beside Kyuhyun.

“I wasn’t.”

“He totally was, and giving Ryeowook death glares.” Yesung observed as he finished off Sungmin’s plate.

“I thought you guys were cool now? Sungmin said everything was fine now. I thought the fight about nothing was over,” Donghae asked, concerned.

“Everything is fine, and I wasn’t giving anybody death glares,” Kyuhyun told them both. “Where is my candy?”

“Shindong is still looking for it. Ryeowook must have hid it good.”

“Aww, I bet that’s the reason you were pouting! Ryeowook has his own room now,” Yesung said, smiling knowingly.

“Just please don’t.” Kyuhyun asked Yesung.

And of course Yesung ignored him. “Well, you shouldn’t be jealous. It’s only fair that we have our own rooms now. It was high time I got my own, and since I’m the oldest I got to decide to keep the room I had. I know Ryeowook gave you free access to our room in the past, but please knock now. No more just barging in at all hours.”

“I wouldn’t worry about that if I were you,” Kyuhyun told Yesung, but he couldn’t help but smile.

“Whatever, you’ve always loved hanging out with me. I couldn’t keep you out of my room if I tried. Sungmin has lost his cats, so all his mothering is going to be aimed at you. You will be knocking down my door to escape him.”

“That’s not even funny,” Kyuhyun said, remembering the list that his mother and Sungmin had made before he was discharged from the hospital.

“I can’t find that candy anywhere!” Shindong said, walking back into the dorm and locking the door behind him. He walked up and took the seat next to Kyuhyun.

“What candy?” Ryeowook asked, walking up carrying a plate of food and a bottle of water.

“They have been tearing up your room looking for where you stashed the leftover candy,” Sungmin said from behind him.

“Oh, no luck, huh?” Ryeowook said with a smile. Donghae scooted farther down the couch away from Kyuhyun to give room to Ryeowook, so he could sit between them. Ryeowook sat down and started eating.

“Did you know it wasn’t up there?” Shindong accused Sungmin who was standing beside Yesung.

“I’ll never tell.”

“Of course he did. Those two are always plotting together,” Yesung answered, rolling his eyes.

“And you wouldn’t love us any other way,” Ryeowook told Yesung, as Kyuhyun grabbed Ryeowook’s bottle of water and took a big drink from it.

“Speaking of love, I have to go spend some time with mine,” Shindong said, getting up. Sungmin quickly took his seat.

“You mean with that child,” Yesung said with a disgusted look on his face.

“She’s seventeen; she’s hardly a child,” Shindong told him as he walked away.

“She looks ten,” Yesung declared, but Shindong was already out of earshot.

“She might look ten, but she isn’t ten,” Ryeowook told Yesung, as Kyuhyun and Donghae helped themselves to his plate of food.

“You like them young, too, don’t you?” Yesung smirked.

“Excuse me,” Ryeowook snapped, taking a bite of his chicken.

“I don’t even think Luna is seventeen yet, is she?” Donghae said with a big grin on his face.

“No, not till August.” Sungmin was happy to add. Kyuhyun, who had been eating more of Ryeowook’s food than Ryeowook, stopped eating.

“Is there anything you want to share, lover boy?” Donghae teased.

“I don’t kiss and tell,” Ryeowook told them as he tried to act casual and took a drink of his water.

“And thank God for that,” Kyuhyun added, causing Ryeowook to swallow his water wrong, which lead to a coughing fit.

“Are you okay?” Sungmin asked, getting up, as Ryeowook continued to cough like he was dying.

“I….m….fi…ne,” Ryeowook managed to get out between coughing episodes as Donghae pounded on his back.

“Guilty conscious, I think,” Yesung suggested with a grin.

“Most definitely,” Kyuhyun added, once it was clear that Ryeowook was going to live.

“Isn’t there some medicine you should be taking or something?” Ryeowook, who had recovered the ability to talk, demanded from Kyuhyun.

“Not for three more hours and forty minutes,” Sungmin said, pointing to his watch as he sat back down. Yesung snickered at the look of dread spreading all over Kyuhyun’s face.

“Well then, you should be sleeping. Rest is important.” Ryeowook suggested, but his face paled as he saw the cold look return to Kyuhyun’s face as he mentioned sleep.

“Not sleepy.” Kyuhyun told him.

“You look sleepy.”

“I’m not. I slept good last night.”

“I know you did, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need rest now,” Ryeowook said as he stood up and held out his hand for him. Kyuhyun glared, refusing to take his hand, but he did get up and follow Ryeowook to the bedroom he shared with Sungmin.

“His nap wasn’t actually scheduled for another twenty-five minutes,” Sungmin pointed out to Ryeowook as they were walking off.

“It’s okay. He needs it now,” Ryeowook answered, walking away.

Kyuhyun muttered under his breath, “God help me. I’m going to miss my mom.”

“What?” Sungmin asked Donghae and Yesung, who were giving him funny looks.

“You are scary,” Yesung said, laughing.

“How am I scary? It’s very important to have a schedule. Kyuhyun’s health is a very fragile. He needs consistency. Those two make up, and Ryeowook thinks he is in charge now. He’s my roommate. His mother entrusted him to me,” Sungmin said, crossing his arms and frowning.

“If I ever get sick, you are not allowed anywhere near me,” Donghae said, getting up to grab the television remote.

Kyuhyun walked into the spotless room he shared with Sungmin and plopped down on the bed, ignoring all his unpacked bags his parents had dropped off.

Ryeowook knelt down besides Sungmin’s bed and pulled out a box filled with candy. “Do you want some?”

“No,” Kyuhyun said, looking at the candy, then turning away to look at the ceiling.

Ryeowook threw a package of chocolate covered almonds at him anyways. “They are really good.”

“I’m not hungry,” Kyuhyun said, continuing to stare at the ceiling.

Ryeowook got up, walked to Kyuhyun’s bed, and sat beside his friend. “You want me to unpack for you?”

“No,” Kyuhyun said, still not looking at him.

“Trying to kill me isn’t cool.”

Kyuhyun started laughing and turned to face Ryeowook. “It was funny; you have to admit?”

“I do not have to admit any such thing.”

“You deserved it.” Kyuhyun pouted, looking back at the ceiling he found so interesting.

Ryeowook’s hand found its way to Kyuhyun’s arm and started gently rubbing it. “It’s best that you stay with Sungmin.”

Kyuhyun took a deep breath and turned and glared up at Ryeowook. “No, it isn’t.”

“Yes, it is. You like to be spoiled, and Sungmin loves to spoil you. It works out perfectly.”

“Perfectly for you,” Kyuhyun hissed as he mentally cursed himself, because dammit, he could feel tears coming. He shouldn’t be crying; this shouldn’t be a big deal. He hated himself for feeling this way. He didn’t even have pain medication or a lack of sleep to blame it on.

“You’re still sick,” Ryeowook said, seeming to answer Kyuhyun’s thoughts. “So I am going to forgive you for trying to kill me. You have to be more careful, though. They aren’t idiots; they will figure it out if you keep hinting. You had to pull out your own IV to fool Heechul, but I doubt that stops him for long.”

“I know.”

“The rules really are for the best.”

“The fight is the reason you moved to the top dorm isn’t it?” Kyuhyun asked as his eyes closed at Ryeowook’s gentle massaging of his arm and shoulder.

“I’m not mad at you, and I don’t want to avoid you. It had more to do with rule three, because the first time you come to me all messed up from a dream you had, or sick…I totally don’t trust myself not to break it.”

“I know how to get to the top dorm, I hate to inform you,” Kyuhyun said with a smile.

“But Leeteuk and Heechul aren’t Yesung and Sungmin, and I don’t think you want to explain yourself to them. I know I wouldn’t want to.”

“Puppies! There isn’t anything wrong with it…on my part.” Kyuhyun was so close to falling sleep, but he was doing his best to fight it. “You are not going to put me to sleep this time.”

“We’ll see,” Ryeowook said, smiling down at his friend.

“I’m not sleepy.”

“Sure you aren’t,” Ryeowook told him as he moved his hand from his arm to his head to run his hand through his hair.

“You don’t….play…fair,” Kyuhyun said as he drifted off to sleep. Ryeowook just smiled, got up, and started unpacking Kyuhyun’s things.
