When Kyuhyun walked into Ryeowook’s room later the next day, after he had spent most of the day at the studio going over all of his vocals - and some other people’s, too - he was exhausted, cranky, confused, and feeling neglected.

The big poster of Ryeowook that hung over his bed greeted him with a smile, while the real Ryeowook did not even look up from his keyboard. Kyuhyun had an urge to jump up, tear the poster down and rip it to pieces, but instead he just sat down on the side of the bed.

Kyuhyun opened his mouth to start letting Ryeowook have it for totally ignoring him, but at that moment Ryeowook, without turning around, reached a hand back from behind for Kyuhyun to hold.

Ryeowook couldn’t see Kyuhyun’s snarl in response to that gesture; instead of grabbing Ryeowook’s hand, he moved off the bed to the opposite side of the room and sat on the floor.

“I have to be at the gym in twenty-five minutes, and a song just popped into my head, so I am trying to get the notes down before I forget,” Ryeowook explained, pulling his hand back and continuing to work on the keyboard.

Kyuhyun got up and was on his way out of the room, but Ryeowook grabbed him before he made it to the door. Ryeowook pulled him over to the chair and tried to pull him down in the seat with him, but Kyuhyun resisted and broke away and said, “Don’t touch me.”

This broke whatever hold the song had over Ryeowook, and his complete focus was now on Kyuhyun as the younger man went back to the opposite side of the room, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor. He pulled his knees up in front of him and wrapped his arms around them and just glared at Ryeowook.

“Okay,” was all Ryeowook said, fear coating his words. “I figured we would eventually get around to this. This is where I tell you I’m so sorry again, and it will never happen again.”

“Don’t lie to me. I know it will. It will happen again tonight and everyday afterwards. You can’t help yourself. How I feel doesn’t matter to you,” Kyuhyun said, throwing the words at him, full of bitterness.

Ryeowook stood up so fast, he almost knocked his keyboard off the desk. He shut the door to the room quickly. “I would never ever do it again. Of course I care how you feel. Tell me how I can make it better and I will.”

“Well, you could start by not ignoring me for two days.” Kyuhyun threw at him with all the self pity he could muster - which was a lot.

Ryeowook, who had been slowly approaching Kyuhyun like he was a wounded, wild animal, stopped as he realized why the younger man was so upset. “Let me get this right. You are upset because you think I’m ignoring you?”

“I don’t think it. I know it.”

“Kyuhyun!” Ryeowook said the name with total frustration, as he slid down the wall beside Kyuhyun, careful not to touch him.

“I am serious; you keep your extremities to yourself. I know how you pet and coddle me ‘til I forget what a bad friend you are, but I’m not falling for your tricks anymore,” Kyuhyun said as he scooted a little bit farther away from Ryeowook.

“Okay, tell me how I’ve wronged you,” Ryeowook said, rolling his eyes.

“You know that I just got out of the hospital. I’m not even close to being back to normal. You abandon me for two days, and you know that Sungmin is mad at me. You just leave me all alone, while you run around doing God knows what.”

“First off, I saw you yesterday morning. You then proceeded to spend the whole day and most of the night in the studio. You are fawned over at the studio. You couldn’t blow your nose without somebody offering to wipe it at the studio. No, I didn’t see you when you got home, I was out……..but you were not alone. Zhou Mi was with you, and he knew to harass you about your medicine, eating and rest - ”

“I totally didn’t eat!” Kyuhyun interrupted to tell him proudly.

“Somehow, I’m not the least bit surprised that you would go hungry to punish me. When I got home later that night, Sungmin told me you were sound asleep.”

“I was not.”

“You were, too! Sungmin knows when you are sleeping.”

“I can totally fake sleeping.”

“You can’t fake it with Sungmin or me, so don’t even pretend like you can”

Kyuhyun straightened out his legs and folded his arms and demanded, “What about today, then? What’s your excuse?”

“You had already left for the studio when I woke up, and I was busy today, too. It isn’t like they let me stay at home doing nothing.”

“I hate being at the studio without you and Yesung,” Kyuhyun complained.

“I know, and we don’t like being there without you either. It’s just how it all had to be this time.”

“You were still ignoring me. I hate you living up here. I hate it.” Kyuhyun had a horrible thought…what if Ryeowook didn’t take care of him because he was fond of him? What if it was because they were always together, and taking care of people was just what Ryeowook did? “I guess you have other people to fulfill your co-dependent hang-ups on, so I should just get used to it. I should just go home. My parents love me.”

Ryeowook took a very deep breath. “You know I love you. God knows, more then I should.” Ryeowook stopped suddenly as if he had let something slip. Kyuhyun turned to look at him, but before Kyuhyun could respond, Ryeowook added suddenly, “You are like my third favorite member.”

The smile that had started to form on Kyuhyun’s face fell off suddenly. “Third favorite?”

“Yes, of course you are. You were like fourth for a long time, but I really think we bonded in China, so I can confidently say you are my third favorite now.”

Kyuhyun jumped to his feet, completely outraged. “Who..who..who is first?”

“Well, Sungmin, of course,” Ryeowook told him, trying his best not to laugh at the other man’s outrage.

Kyuhyun thought about that for a second and then asked in a small voice, “And second?”

“Teukie Hyung, of course.”

Kyuhyun was completely destroyed, but he really couldn’t argue with Ryeowook’s answers. Sungmin did always have Ryeowook’s back, and everybody loved Leader Hyung. “I’m just going to go now.”

“Come here,” Ryeowook told him as he patted the spot on the floor next to him.

Kyuhyun gave him a crazy look as if he was going anywhere near him. “Third best - I don’t even like you anymore.”

“Come here,” Ryeowook said with more force, and Kyuhyun found himself sitting down next to Ryeowook before he could think better of it. “I am sorry for avoiding you, and I will admit that I was. I won’t go into the reasons why, because you seem to be very oblivious to them, and I prefer it that way. I know you get upset when you don’t feel like you aren’t getting the daily quota of attention you require.”

“From you,” Kyuhyun specified as he watched Ryeowook's hand inch closer to him.

“From me, but I think it would be good if you would actually start appreciating the attention you get from others, too.”

“I always enjoy all the attention I can get,” Kyuhyun informed him. “I know Sungmin likes me better then third. Sungmin is my true friend. He takes good care of me…..when he doesn’t want to hurt me.” Whatever Ryeowook was trying to get across to Kyuhyun was lost on him as the glaring fact that he was third started festering more.

“Let it go.” Ryeowook pretended to be annoyed, but he was fighting a smile.

“How can I let that go? Third?”

“It isn’t like I hate you or anything. I’m very fond of you.”

“Gee, thanks!” Kyuhyun said as he watched Ryeowook hand get within touching distance. “And don’t touch me.” Ryeowook jerked his hand back. “You can’t comfort me when you’re the reason I’m mad.”

“I could, but you’re too busy pouting like a baby,” Ryeowook told Kyuhyun as he held his hand up in front of Kyuhyun’s face, wiggling his fingers.

“You are so strange.”

“That’s why you love me.”

“Not best anymore though.”

“Really. Who are you replacing me with?”

“Not Sungmin, because if he’s your first, he can’t be mine.”

Ryeowook smiled with so much love in his eyes. “Then who?”

Kyuhyun, who wasn’t looking at Ryeowook, was giving it serious thought. “I don’t know… probably Donghae or Siwon, or maybe even Yesung.”

“Yesung, huh?”

“Yes, Yesung. You always know where you stand with him, and that’s important in a friendship,” Kyuhyun turned and glared at Ryeowook as he answered.

“Wow, Yesung’s popularity is on the rise. Last night on Sukira, Eunhyuk couldn’t stop saying enough nice things about him…it was rather other-worldly, actually.”

“Well, we are all roommates now. We have to stick together.”

“I guess so… although I couldn’t help thinking Yesung had blackmailed him or something.”

“Eunhyuk is big on keeping us together now, since you abandoned us. I was going to let Zhou Mi stay with Sungmin, and I offered to move up here with you.”

“Oh, I bet you did.” Ryeowook smiled and just shook his head at Kyuhyun’s lack of shame.

“He totally wouldn’t allow it, though.”

Ryeowook frowned. “What reason did he give?”

“Like I told you, he wasn’t losing anybody else to the top dorm, so instead, Zhou Mi is staying with Yesung.”

“With Yesung? He doesn’t even like… roommates. I just don’t believe he would offer to share his room,” Ryeowook said, truly confused.

“Well, some people sacrifice in order to keep me around. You know some people enjoy my company,” Kyuhyun told Ryeowook, a little offended.

Ryeowook reached over and grabbed Kyuhyun’s hand and squeezed it before the boy had time to rebel. “You know, I think I have heard that before.”

“It’s true,” Kyuhyun said smiling at him, unable to help himself. Ryeowook smiled back, and with their hands clasped, neither said anything for awhile and just stared into each other’s eyes. Ryeowook’s other hand had just reached up and gently touched Kyuhyun’s face when there was suddenly a loud banging on the door.

Ryeowook flew up faster than Kyuhyun had ever seen him move. “Yes,” he said, opening the door, red-faced. Eunhyuk was at the door smiling. “We are going to be late for the gym.”

“Oh, that’s right. Let me grab my bag,” Ryeowook said, heading for the closet and appearing eager to leave.

“You want to come?” Eunhyuk asked Kyuhyun, who was sitting on the floor, wondering why he suddenly felt robbed.

“No, thanks.” Kyuhyun said with a frown.

“You don’t have to work out. You can just watch. Watching the lovebirds Luna and Ryeowook is actually the best part about the gym,” Eunhyuk told Kyuhyun.

“Hey!” Ryeowook said with his bag in hand, ready to go, but his eyes were on Kyuhyun, who suddenly looked very annoyed.

“It’s the truth. Also, I am sure Victoria would keep you company if you came. I am pretty sure she is just hanging out, waiting for you to show up,” Eunhyuk told him.

“Not interested. I have to save my energy. I am going out with a model tomorrow. A very hot one that’s a big fan…..she really, really likes me,” Kyuhyun told them, bragging.

“A hot model?” Ryeowook face and voice showed his disbelief of Kyuhyun’s gloating words.

“Yes, Zhou Mi totally hooked me up. She told him if he got her a date with me, she would fix him up with a friend of hers that’s also a model, too. She’s older, but that’s not always a bad thing when it comes to women. Older women have lots to teach, and I have lots to learn.”

Ryeowook dropped his bag. “How much older, and where exactly is she from?”

“I don’t know exactly where she is from, but somewhere in China. She just got back from Paris, though, and apparently she has a really talented tongue. She speaks several languages, including Korean. She is all cougar-ish. She promised me if I sang for her, she would make it worth my while,” Kyuhyun lied, but Ryeowook was too shocked to notice.

“Wow.” was all Eunhyuk could say as he grabbed Ryeowook’s bag from the floor.

“Listen here,” Ryeowook told Kyuhyun, pointing his finger at him. “You are not dating some old cougar, talented tongue, model, from God knows where, do you hear me? I will tell your mother!”

“You can’t tell my mom!” Kyuhyun played along, enjoying every moment of Ryeowook’s distress.

“Oh, I’m telling her. I am going to be telling ZhouMi something, too, believe me. If you think - ” Ryeowook’s last threats were cut off when Eunhyuk dragged him from the room.

As soon as Ryeowook and Eunhyuk were out of hearing distance, Kyuhyun was on his phone calling Zhou Mi. Kyuhyun’s face lit up with devilish delight as Zhou Mi answered, “If a short little Korean comes up to you demanding you explain yourself, just reply, “He’s an adult.” If you do this, I will owe you big time. You name it. I will do it.”

Kyuhyun then put his phone in his pocket and skipped out of the room, humming. Kyuhyun couldn’t help but think Ryeowook appeared very jealous - but wait, jealous was the wrong word to use. He shouldn’t use that word even in his thoughts. His inner reflections were stopped suddenly when he almost ran into Heechul, who was coming out of his bedroom.

“Hyung!” Kyuhyun said cheerfully and hugged Heechul.

Heechul took a step back and gave Kyuhyun a severe looking over. “Are you back on the good drugs?”

“I am on the best drug of all!” Kyuhyun was so happy with himself, he could barely stand it.

“Love?” Heechul asked suspiciously as he looked at Ryeowook’s room that Kyuhyun had just bounced out of and then looked back to Kyuhyun. “Just what the hell were you two doing in there?”

Kyuhyun’s smile disappeared from his face, and he shook his head frantically. “No, not love. Revenge! I have a perfect revenge planned! Revenge is the best drug of all!”

“Thank God; you are starting to stress me out kid,” Heechul said, relieved, and walked back into his room, shutting the door behind him.

“Love,” Kyuhyun muttered back to himself, “Love, heck, I’m third freaking best. I will show you third best.”

“Okay, so I was all happy shopping at this tiny little shop on 5th and 8th street that had the best custom made hats………so cute. I was trying on a particularly dashing little red one when out of the blue, Ryeowook and Sungmin show up,” Zhou Mi informed Kyuhyun as he walked into the dorm.

“They are supposed to be at the gym!”

“Well, they must not have gone, because let me tell you, I agreed to fib to Ryeowook for you, but Sungmin could kick my ass.”

“He would never use his martial arts on you. It’s against his code or something. You didn’t tell them the truth, did you?” Kyuhyun said, plopping down beside Zhou Mi, who had taken a seat on the couch.

“No, I didn’t tell them the truth. When they asked me if I was some kind of pimp daddy prostituting you out, I answered, “He’s an adult.” I think Ryeowook had a small stroke, and Sungmin’s eyes changed colors.”

“No! It isn’t good. They think I hooked you up with some psycho, cougar fan with an extremely long tongue, so I could get laid. And she promised to have sex with you if you sing for her?”

“That’s so awesome!”

“It’s better than I could have hoped. I didn’t say she had a really long tongue, though…I said she had a talented tongue for languages.”

“Well, I don’t think that’s what Ryeowook heard.”

“Oh well, long tongue sounds better anyway.”

“You owe me big time. I’m going to think really long and hard about how I want you to repay me.”

“Deal. I am a man of my word.”

“Come to think of it, I am going to go out and watch a double feature at the movies. I don’t want to be here when Sungmin and Ryeowook show up,” Zhou Mi told Kyuhyun as he got up.

“I’ll come with you then,” Kyuhyun told him. “We better hurry; they are probably planning an intervention for me. Or worse, they are telling my mom,” Kyuhyun said, grabbing his wallet and running to the door to put his shoes on.

“So, why are you doing this exactly?” Zhou Mi said as they walked out the door.

“Because I am third best?” Kyuhyun said as he locked the door behind him.

“Third best at what? Singing?”

“What? No, obviously, I’m the best at singing.”

“Silly me.”

“Ryeowook said I’m his third favorite member of the group,” Kyuhyun told Zhou Mi in all seriousness.

Zhou Mi just started laughing. “You actually believe that?”

“I heard it from his own mouth!”

“If all the members were in a boat and it was sinking, and he could only pick one person to save……..we would all be drowned, and your life would never have been in danger.”

“Well duh, you are talking about Super Junior M. Of course he loves me more than all of you. I am talking about Super Junior,” Kyuhyun told him, shaking his head as if he was talking to a child.
